Product Description
Audi A3 Sport Back (05~11) Front Big Brake Kit
ADVOCULT big brake kits are precision CNC engineered using the finest aerospace grade materials and customized to your liking. Our kits are all bolt on upgrades that directly replace the stock brakes without modification. They are available in a variety of colours and options, and include calipers, pads, rotors, brackets, lines and shims for two wheels. Calipers are guaranteed for two years, brake rotors for six months, and all other parts for one year (exc. pads).
Size / Variation
Recommended minimum wheel sizes are a guide only. If you would like to check if there is enough clearance behind your wheels please request a wheel fitment template from us.
Rotors
Our rotors are manufactured from high grade FC250 cast iron with an anti-rust coating. They utilize large cooling vanes to dissipate heat more efficiently and reduce fade. Center hats are machined from 60601 T6 billet aluminium to reduce unsprung weight, and finished with a hard anodizing electrolyte treatment for improved durability. Each rotor is manufactured to a tolerance of +/- 0.02mm and finely balanced to eliminate vibration. Any rotor that does not meet our high QC standards does not leave the factory. Slotted rotors are recommended for race applications.
Floating Rotors
Floating rotors allow the braking surface to 'float' on the center hat, negating the affect of metal expansion and reducing the possibility of the rotor warping if overheated. They also improve heat dissipation, meaning they cool down even more quickly than our standard 2-piece rotors, which further reduces brake fade over prolonged periods of heavy braking.
Calipers
Calipers are forged from high quality 6061 T6 heat treated aluminium, and finished with an anti-rust coating. The pistons are staggered with progressive diameters to ensure even pad wear, and have two layers of internal seals for protection against the elements – an inner seal for fluid and and outer layer for dust.
We offer a huge selection of calipers, each specifically designed to suit their respective rotor size, and are available in anodized finishes. Anodized calipers are included as standard.
PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR BRAKE CALIPERS DO NOT HAVE PROVISIONS FOR PAD WEAR SENSORS, SO IF YOUR VEHICLE HAS THESE AS STANDARD, THEY WILL BECOME REDUNDANT AFTER YOU INSTALL THE BRAKE KIT.
Piston Material
We offer various piston options to further tailor the brake kit to the driver's exact requirements.
Aluminum pistons are machined from billet 6061 and finished with an anti-corrosive hard anodized treatment. This is our lightest and most weather-resistant option. Recommended for street / fast street use, but suitable for all uses.
Aluminum vented pistons are the same as the standard pistons, but with the added benefit of ventilation to disperse hot gasses that build up between the piston and pad, which allows a firmer and more responsive pedal feel. Recommended for fast street / race use, but suitable for all uses. *Not available for mini, electronic parking brake, or big 8-pot/XL 8-pot calipers.
Stainless steel pistons are heavier than aluminium, but have lower thermal conductivity properties, meaning less heat is transferred through the pads and into the brake fluid, which reduces brake fade during prolonged heavy use. Recommended for fast street / race use, but suitable for all uses. *Not available electronic parking brake calipers.
Stainless pistons with anti-knockback springs stop the pistons from retracting during high speed cornering, and lightly press the pad against the rotor when your foot is off the brakes. This increases pad wear slightly but removes slack from the brake system, which ensures the bite is always at the top of the pedal. Recommended for race use only. *Not available for electronic parking brake calipers.
Brake Pads
We also manufacture our own high quality street, sport and race brake pad compounds. They include backing plates to improve heat dissipation and reduce noise. Pads are not specific to PB Brake kits so replacements are available from ourselves or any other major pad manufacturer. Please see 'compatible pads' on the left for profiles and part numbers.
Street pads are included as standard, and are recommended for drivers that want quiet, low-maintenance brakes on the road. They're more economical, and will still stop you really fast, but will start to fade after 4 or 5 heavy high speed stops in quick succession. Suitable for road use only.
Sport pads are a great middle-ground option. Although not as quiet as the street pads, the cold bite is right up there, they allow great friction, and you have to push them extremely hard to get any hint of fade. Suitable for light track and fast road use.
Race pads are obviously going to give you the best performance. They offer the highest friction and warm bite, and in our experience we have never been able to make them fade in both rally and circuit racing. The drawbacks are they need bedding in very thoroughly to maintain a good transfer layer on the rotors, and they don't last as long as the street or sport compounds. Recommended for track use only.
Brake Lines
Each kit includes a set of DOT compliant stainless steel braided brake lines, with waterproof PVC coating. The length is tailored to the correct length for the vehicle and adaptors are not required. They also have universal clips attached so they can be secured in place to prevent rubbing against the chassis.
Brackets
The brackets are made from high strength steel alloy and mount the calipers to the steering knuckle via two high tensile bolts. No modification or adaptors are required.
